Probe of East Alton, IL, Strip Mall Fire Underway

East Alton firefighters, who were called for a dumpster fire, found heavy fire showing from the structure.

The fire that ripped through a strip mall in East Alton early Tuesday is under investigation.

Firefighters called for a dumpster ablaze found heavy fire showing from the structure that includes a Chinese restaurant and vacant stores, according to River Bender.

The Dollar General also sustained extensive damage.

The Illinois fire marshal's office is working to determine the cause.
