Blast in East Providence, RI, Plant Leaves 13 Injured
An explosion at a manufacturing building in East Providence sent 13 workers to the hospital Wednesday night.
"There's a process they do in the building. They do super insulation. As part of that process that last insulation blanket is dried in, basically, an oven and during that process is when that explosion occurred," East Providence Fire Chief Michael Carey told WMUR.
The victims were found inside and outside of the Aspen Aerogels facility. All suffered minor injuries and burns.
The state fire marshal's office is investigating the incident.
