An electrical short caused a fire at the State Fair of Texas on Tuesday morning, officials said.

Dallas-Fire Rescue units responded to the Midway at the fairgrounds about 7:10 a.m., DFR spokesperson Jason Evans said in a news release. When they arrived, they could see a large column of smoke rising from the area.

The blaze, which was coming from a balloon pop gaming stand, was declared out before 7:30 a.m. The stand received significant damage, but it was closed at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters remained at the scene to extinguish hot spots inside several stuffed animals and other prizes, the release states.

The fair opened at the regular time of 10 a.m., according to a State Fair of Texas post on Facebook.

“A perimeter has been established around the affected area near the Big Tex Urban Farms Greenhouse as our teams continue cleanup,” the post reads. “Team members will be on site to help direct fairgoers as needed.”
