5 Injured After Tanker Explodes on N.J. Turnpike

Nov. 07--NEW JERSEY -- Five people are injured after a tanker exploded on the New Jersey Turnpike Monday, turning the truck into a ball of flame. The crash happened around 9 p.m. at exit 18W along the western spur that passes near the Meadowlands. The fire consumed the tanker and burned until the vehicle was reduced to a molten skeleton. Of the five injured, one is in serious condition with a head injury. Traffic may be delayed for several hours as workers attempt to clear the road.
