Toddler Tossed From Balcony in Indy Fire Escape
INDIANAPOLIS
--
A toddler was tossed to safety from a second-floor balcony Thursday as residents rushed to escape an apartment fire on Indianapolis' northeast side.
Firefighters were called to the Peppermill Farms Apartments near 42nd Street and Shadeland Avenue just before 2 p.m. on a report of heavy black smoke.
Investigators said the fire was contained to one apartment on the second floor.
A nearby resident was forced to toss her 2 1/2-year-old grandson to neighbors below as she waited to be rescued.
