Oct. 15--In what the Shelby County Fire Department called a "very large blaze," a Cordova warehouse suffered heavy damage in an overnight fire that was still being monitored late this morning.
More than 60 firefighters from as many as 10 engine and ladder companies from the Memphis, Germantown and Shelby County fire departments responded to the blaze near Macon Road and Big Orange Road at about 11 p.m. Friday.
One MFD firefighter suffered an ankle injury while fighting the blaze. He was treated at the scene.
SCFD reported that firefighters were still on the scene shortly before noon, monitoring hot spots and assuring that the fire had been extinguished.
The warehouse, which houses Green Family Materials wood and brick facility, suffered "major damages" in the blaze, SCFD reported, though damage estimates were not available.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
