13-Year-Old Charged in N.C. Church Arson

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Winston-Salem police said a 13-year-old boy is facing charges in a July fire that was set at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. The boy is being held at the Youth Detention Center, and isn't being identified because of his age. The fire did $39,000 in damage to the building on New Hope Lane and the contents inside, including an organ.

Winston-Salem police said a 13-year-old boy is facing charges in a July fire that was set at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

The boy is being held at the Youth Detention Center, and isn't being identified because of his age.

The fire did $39,000 in damage to the building on New Hope Lane and the contents inside, including an organ.

The fire was one in a string of arsons to vehicles and vacant houses. Police didn't say if the youngster was tied to any of the other cases.
