Sept. 30--NEW ORLEANS -- Arrests have been made in a string of arson fires.
And the suspects are the last guys you might think.
A charred shell is all that remains of this trailer in Livingston parish.
It's one of 11 arson fires police have been investigating since February. One of them was next door to Vergie Dickerson.
"I said oh my god, we're on fire." it was so red i thought we were on fire," Dickerson said.
Another one happened close to Ben Nichols.
"Just looked out the window and it was all fire and it was just burning up you know," Nichols said.
Word of the mysterious arson fires has been the talk of the town.
No one could figure out who might be starting them and why. That was until now.
Authorities have arrested three men for the string of arson fires; Adam Church, Colin Davis, and Thomas Golder. All are teenagers; all were members of the volunteer fire department.
"It's just the young in them wanting to be active, wanting to do stuff expecting to do it everyday and in a real life situation it's just not like that," said Livingston Fire Chief Kirk Duffy.
"You know most of the time it's for the thrill, it's for the ability to go out and do the job of a firefighter, it's not a malicious that they're trying to hurt anybody or harm anybody it's more so they can go out and use the equipment and drive the truck," said Louisiana Fire Marshal Butch Browning.
"I just don't think it's right at all, it makes you scared," Dickerson said.
WGNO News Reporter Darian Trotter said, "Even though the structures were unoccupied, investigators say the crime itself, and what happened here is a violation of public trust."
"That they would go and burn down a house just so they can practice instead of just like setting up a target fire and go in and put it out and recycle it other that destroying property," Nichols said.
The fires caused more than 100-thousand dollars in damage.
"That's a lot of money," Dickerson said.
Adam Church left the fire department in February.
All three men face up to five years on each count.
