Sept. 28--A landscaping worker escaped injury Tuesday afternoon when lightning hit the truck he was sitting in, shattering the windshield, blowing the radio out of the dashboard and deploying the passenger-side airbag, police said.
The asphalt under the truck's tires was blown into chunks, police said.
Lightning also struck the home where the York County landscaping crew had been working, causing the roof to catch fire, according to Lower Allen Township Police.
Despite his shock, the worker still had the presence of mind to rush inside the home -- along with a co-worker -- and save two dogs inside, police said.
The men work for Orendorf Grounds Maintenance on Old York Road in Fairview Township, police said.
Police and fire crews were called to the home, in the 1700 block of Olmsted Way outside Camp Hill, about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters put out the two-alarm blaze. The home's roof and attic were heavily damaged and there was smoke and water damage throughout the rest of the home, police said.
