Four Injured, 34 Displaced Md. Apt. Complex Fire

COLUMBIA, Md. -- Howard County fire officials said four people were hospitalized and nine families were displaced in an early-morning apartment fire Thursday. The two-alarm fire broke out at about 1 a.m. in the Autumn Crest Apartments in the 5600 block of Stevens Forest Road in Columbia, according to fire officials, who said firefighters rescued several people from the building. Fire officials said four people were taken to Howard County General Hospital, and one man was in serious condition.

Howard County fire officials said four people were hospitalized and nine families were displaced in an early-morning apartment fire Thursday.

The two-alarm fire broke out at about 1 a.m. in the Autumn Crest Apartments in the 5600 block of Stevens Forest Road in Columbia, according to fire officials, who said firefighters rescued several people from the building.

Fire officials said four people were taken to Howard County General Hospital, and one man was in serious condition.

The Red Cross is assisting the 34 people who were displaced, fire officials said.

Crews are still working to find a cause of the blaze.
