Suspected Arson Fire Damages Maui Courthouse
HONOLULU
--
Someone deliberately set fire to the Maui drug court office causing an estimated $250,000 in damage, Maui officials said.
The fire was reported about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday at the courthouse on Main Street in Wailuku.
Police and fire officials noticed that someone had broken into the office and started the fire in five different spots, Maui officials said.
A sprinkler system kept the fire from spreading beyond the office but created thick black smoke.
