SHELTON, Wash. --
Fire destroyed a Shelton High School sports facility, and investigators tell KIRO 7 it was arson.
The early morning fire caused more than $300,000 in damage between the building and the equipment it housed.
Three students spent all summer building it for their senior project and now they learn someone intentionally burned it down.
Mason County Fire Chief Tim McKern says they found the doors kicked open and a gasoline container for the lawnmower missing. Firefighters also found multiple starts to the fire.
The two-story building contained a dugout, concession stand and equipment storage.
Investigators are asking the public to report anything they may have seen and will review nearby surveillance video to identify the arsonist. As for the young men who spent over 300 hours building the facility, they vow to re-build.
