DUBOIS, Pa. --
DuBois police arrested a man for throwing a mortar firework near a building in DuBois that exploded and damaged several buildings.
Police said Derek Haight, 28, of DuBois, threw the commercial grade mortar firework next to the Hallstorm building on E. Long Avenue Monday morning.
Police said the device exploded and shattered several windows in the Hallstorm building and in a residence next to that building.
Police said there were people in the building at the time of the explosion, but no one was injured.
Through the course of the police investigation, a search warrant was obtained for Haight's house, police said.
Once at the home, police said officers found other types of fireworks and an explosive device disposal team from Centre County was called to detonate the devices.
Haight was arrested for on felony weapons, felony arson and numerous misdemeanor charges, police said.
Police said Haight was placed in the Clearfield County Jail on $25,000 bail.
