SEATTLE, Wash.
--
A large three-alarm fire broke out at an apartment complex near South Park Sunday afternoon.
The building, owned by Union Gospel Mission, is in the 9800 block of Des Moines Memorial Drive.
Fire crews from multiple departments responded to the call for the 18-unit, 4-story building at 2 p.m.
Firefighters said at first they were not sure if all of the residents got out because the fire was too intense for crews to enter the building. Sheriffs deputies later verified that everyone was safe.
There have been two reports of people who have suffered non-life-threatening burns.
Smoke was seen from as far away as Lake Washington, Harborview, Elliott bay ferries, Tacoma waterfront and Sea-Tac, callers to the KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Assignment Desk said.
