ASTORIA, Ore. --

Firefighters finally gained control of a 4-alarm fire on the Astoria waterfront about 6 a.m. Friday after it burned about eight hours.

Fire Department Public Information Officer Tara Constantine says firefighters are still putting out hot spots and it will be a while before investigators can look for the cause.

The only injury was to a firefighter who sprained a shoulder.

Constantine says the fire was reported about 10 p.m. Thursday at the Cannery Cafe and also burned an old cannery building next door that housed about 10 businesses. Both structures are on a dock.

About 50 firefighters from seven departments battled the fire through the night in the city at the mouth of the Columbia River.

Traffic along Highway 30 near the 6th Street intersection is blocked in both directions, according to ODOTs website.
