Kitchen Fire Damages Washington Fire Station

LONGVIEW, Wash. -- Longview fire crews are cleaning up their own fire station today after a blaze started in their kitchen while they responded to a call. Fire officials said the firefighters were making dinner on the fire station stove when they got a medical call and had to leave in a hurry. The firefighters turned off the stove, but they said someone accidentally bumped the knob on the way out. The stove then heated up a pan of oil and started a fire in the kitchen.

The fire burned the cabinets, the countertop and the stove. The entire room also had heavy smoke damage.
