SAN ANTONIO --

San Antonio firefighters believe someone intentionally set a business on fire early Tuesday morning.

The fire started around 4:30 a.m. at a bakery in the 14000 block of Nacogdoches Road, just north of O'Connor Road.

Emma's Bakery took the bulk of the damgage, with the fire destroying roughly half of the business. A karate studio next to the bakery was also badly damaged, fire officials said.

Arson investigators said there was strong odor of gasoline coming from the building after they put out the flames.

Capt. Joel Gonzalez, the incident commander at the scene, said it looked like someone broke the glass to get into bakery, then poured gas or some other accelerant on the floor.

Gonzalez said firefighters were able to keep the flames contained to just the bakery and karate studio, which other tenants said was vacant. Several other businesses in the center suffered smoke damage.

Investigators will remain on scene to collect evidence.
