NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla.
--
150 Firefighters battled a smokey fire inside the Mall at 163rd Street early Sunday morning.
The first call came in to 911 at 4:29 a.m.
When firefighters arrived on the scene they found thick black smoke pouring from the the Ross store at 1421 NE 163rd Street.
Two firefighters had to be pulled out because they were running dangerously low on air.
Firefighters later determined the fire began in a utility closet inside the store. The cause has not yet been determined.
Once the fire was put out firefighters began airing out the mall, which was left blanketed in thick smoke.
Late Sunday night, firefighters were still on the scene trying to get dangerous levels of carbon monoxide out of the mall.
The mall could be closed for several days.
