OKLAHOMA CITY --
Oklahoma City firefighters said lightning is to blame for seven house fires that sparked Monday morning.
Eyewitness News Five meteorologists estimated at one point, the storms were producing between 2,000 to 3,000 strikes per hour.
Battalion Chief Tommy Iago said along with the house fires, his crews responded to 25 automatic alarms, due to the lightning, at businesses and houses across the metro.
Iago said the department was stretched thin; at one point, firefighters were working three house fires simultaneously.
However, Iago said the department had enough crews overnight to respond to each fire properly.
