DETROIT --

Firefighters were responding to a house fire Thursday morning at 5 a.m. when they found two bodies in an abandoned home.

The house is located on Detroit's west side, near the intersection of Central and McGraw roads.

After the fire was put out, officials investigated the home and found two bodies inside.

One body was discovered at the front of the home, while the other was in a back bedroom.

Both of the bodies were males in their 30s.

Police said the body in the front room was burned beyond recognition.

The names of the victims have not been released yet.

Officials have been going door-to-door to find out the history of the home.

Residents said that two men recently bought the duplex and had been renovating it for the past week.

"These two guys have been working on what was a vacant duplex. They have been working on it for a week," said neighbor Gabriela Hernandez.

Neighbors also said they believe the men stayed inside the home, while they renovated it because they were worried about people breaking in.
