FLINT, Mich. --
The control tower at Bishop International Airport in Flint was evacuated Friday morning because of a fire.
Flint fire crews were called to the scene just before 10 a.m.
It’s unclear what sparked the blaze or how much damage the building suffered. However, airport officials believe the fire began on the tower’s first floor.
“We had no delays, no interruption in flight service and at no point were there any safety concerns,” public safety director Christopher Miller said.
The Federal Aviation Administration told WNEM TV5 that evacuated air controllers were working from an alternative facility on airport property.
All other air controls were being handled by a Cleveland facility.
No injuries were reported.
