CHERRYVILLE, N.C. --
A home was destroyed in an early-morning fire in Cherryville Friday.
Eyewitness News’ newspaper partner, the Gaston Gazette, reported four people were at home when the fire broke out on Carson Hunter Road off Dallas Cherryville Highway. It started at about 4 a.m.
Police said two teenage boys, their grandmother and a teen girl were inside when the fire started. The two boys managed to get their grandmother out. No one was hurt, but firefighters said a dog died in the fire.
Though the family inside was saved, the house was completely destroyed. Firefighters said the homeowners did not have insurance.
Though crews are still investigating a cause, they said it looks to be electrical.
