Sprinklers Stop Wis. Apartment Blaze

FITCHBURG, Wis. -- A fire Tuesday at the Fitchburg Fairways apartment complex ended with minimal damage after fire sprinklers stopped the flames. Fitchburg firefighters said the damage was limited to two apartments at the Post Road complex. One family was displaced. Fire officials said the blaze could have been much worse had it not been for sprinklers installed in 2007. Before the installation and some renovations, issues at the apartment complex caused concerns for residents.

A fire Tuesday at the Fitchburg Fairways apartment complex ended with minimal damage after fire sprinklers stopped the flames.

Fitchburg firefighters said the damage was limited to two apartments at the Post Road complex.

One family was displaced. Fire officials said the blaze could have been much worse had it not been for sprinklers installed in 2007.

Before the installation and some renovations, issues at the apartment complex caused concerns for residents.

In 2004, the city pressured the owners to clean up mold and fix cracked ceilings and walls.
