One Child, Two Adults Killed In N.C. House Fire

UNION CO., N.C. -- A child and two adults died in a house fire in Union County early Saturday morning. Investigators say the fire started in a home on Plyler Mill Road south of Monroe at about 5 a.m. Three other people who were inside the house went to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Investigators believe 11 people lived at the house. Firefighters ruled the fire an accident, but did not release an exact cause. They told Eyewitness News the house did not have any working smoke detectors.
