Calif. Man, 93, Dies in Mobile Home Fire

-- Dec. 07--The death of a 93-year-old man in a fire at his Oxnard mobile home park was ruled an accident following an autopsy today, the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office reported. Ed Hunt died from heat-related injuries as well as smoke and soot inhalation, said Deputy Ventura County Medical Examiner Michael Tellez. Hunt was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon after firefighter pulled him from his trailer in the 2800 block of Wagon Wheel Road, officials said.

Dec. 07--The death of a 93-year-old man in a fire at his Oxnard mobile home park was ruled an accident following an autopsy today, the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office reported.

Ed Hunt died from heat-related injuries as well as smoke and soot inhalation, said Deputy Ventura County Medical Examiner Michael Tellez.

Hunt was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon after firefighter pulled him from his trailer in the 2800 block of Wagon Wheel Road, officials said.

The blaze that engulfed Hunt's trailer was reported about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Responding firefighters could see smoke about a mile away. When they arrived, the fire burning the trailer were so intense that they had to battle the flames while simultaneously searching for the victim reported to be inside, officials said.

The aluminum and wood trailer was completely gutted by the blaze. By Wednesday morning, the skeletal remains of the burned out trailer had been divided from the rest of the trailer park by a chain-link fence.The cause of the fire remained under investigation Wednesday, said Battalion Chief John Colamarino of the Oxnard Fire Department.
