BROADDUS, Texas --

Authorities say three children have died after a fire destroyed their mobile home in East Texas.

Fire spokeswoman Amy Williams says 8-year-old Austin McGee, 5-year-old Brandon Riter and 4-year-old Shina Riter died of smoke inhalation in the fire Wednesday night in the small town of Broaddus.

Williams tells KTRE-TV of Lufkin (http://bit.ly/tLALMK) that the father, Brad Riter, was home at the time and pulled all three of the children from the trailer. Williams says she and her husband, another voluntary firefighter, tried to help Riter revive the children, but it was too late.

Broaddus is a town of about 180 residents near the Louisiana border, 180 miles southeast of Dallas.
