The serial arsonist is likely to strike again officials believe

Five vacant home fires in four days in a Sanford, Fla., neighborhood are connected, set by a serial arsonist who will likely strike again, according to the state fire marshal.

The latest fire destroyed a home on 13th Street in Sanford, Fla., Wednesday night.

Early Tuesday, a vacant home caught fire on 15th Street in Sanford at about 12:15 a.m.

Sanford firefighters did not have a problem extinguishing the flames. However, after the fire, investigators discovered several different fires were started inside the structure.

Days earlier, a home on 13th Street was so badly burned that fire investigators were unable to determine how the fire started, according to the report.

Fire officials said whoever is sparking the fires is using items in the homes to start the flames.

No one has been injured in the fires but investigators fear that could change, Local 6 News reported.

Officials said someone may be using the homes for illegal activity and then destroying the structures to get rid of evidence.

If you have any information concerning these fires, you are urged to call a new arson tip line at (877) NO-ARSON.
