Authorities said the teen will likely face charges of recklessly causing a fire in a commercial building, felony vandalism, burglary and trespassing.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested Friday in connection with a two-alarm fire earlier in the day at a vacant hotel building in Rancho Cordova, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials said. Authorities said the teen, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, will likely face charges of recklessly causing a fire in a commercial building, felony vandalism, burglary and trespassing. The blaze was reported at 8:14 a.m. at the closed three-story motel once known as the Bradshaw Inn, which is located in the 3300 block of Bradshaw Road. Fire officials said it took 40 firefighters about 45 minutes to control the blaze. One firefighter suffered second-degree burns to his neck, officials said. He was treated and returned to work. There were no other injuries reported. Another fire broke out at the motel on Nov. 17. The building has a history of having homeless people break into it and live, officials said. The building is expected to be torn down, but it is unclear when that will happen.
