NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) -- A fire department responding to a call about a field fire instead found a dead man whose body was on fire, a Delaware State Police spokesman said Sunday.

The man was find around 4 a.m. Sunday by the Minquadale Fire Company in the Cornell Industrial Park.

``When they got to the industrial park, they didn't find a field fire but what they found was a body on fire,'' said Lt. Joe Aviola.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

``It's been labeled as a suspicious death right now,'' Aviola said.

Investigators were still working Sunday evening to determine the man's identity, Aviola said.

The exact cause of death was unknown, Aviola said, and the body has been taken to the state medical examiner's office.
