WASHINGTON (AP) -- A 14-year-old was under arrest on charges of setting at least a half-dozen arson fires in a Southeast Washington apartment building, authorities said Friday.

``Investigators are confident they have the person responsible for terrorizing'' residents of the Parkside Terrace building, said Alan Etter, a spokesman for the District of Columbia Fire and EMS Department.

Etter said officials got a critical piece of information at a public meeting last month. It led to the unidentified teen being taken into custody Thursday in Landover, Md., by D.C. fire marshals and sheriffs deputies from Prince George's County.

The teen was to be charged with setting at least six fires since October. Etter said most of the fires involve furniture or trash chutes being set alight.
