State Fire Marshall's Office Investigating Two Suspicious Minnesota Fires
The first started early Sunday morning at an abandoned barn in rural Mower County, and the Mower County Sheriffs Departments says several clues on the scene pointed to possible arson.
"It was suspicious in the nature that it was abandoned, and there was no electricity to it. They found a rubber glove in the area and also some hay that had been pushed under the building that could have been a possible starting point for the fire," says Chief Deputy Mark May Mower, County Sheriffs Dept.
The second suspicious fire started shortly after the first at an abandoned home in rural Dodge County.
In fact, firefighters saw the glow from this blaze while still on the scene at the first one.
Authorities do believe the two fires are connected and are asking the public for any information they might have that could help solve the case.
"Any little bits of information can be helpful to us," says Dodge County Sheriff Gary Thompson. "Often times we just look for that one little piece of the puzzle. And if people are alert and let us know what's going on, what they see out there that can be extremely helpful to us."
This afternoon we spoke with the State Fire Marshall investigating these two fires.
And he expects to know sometime later this week what, if anything, was used to start the two blazes.
