WASHINGTON TWP. -- Two volunteer firefighters and a police Explorer have been charged with intentionally setting a series of building and brush fires in 112 months.

Between Jan. 21 and March 3, six fires were set in a Dumpster, a shed, a building and a vacant house and behind two businesses in the township, authorities said. No one was injured, but property damage was estimated to be more than $5,000, said authorities.

Nicholas A. Falconiero, 19, of Amherst Court, Turnersville, was charged with one count of second-degree aggravated arson, one count of second-degree conspiracy to commit aggravated arson, one count of second-degree official misconduct, one count of fourth-degree failure to report a fire and four counts of third-degree conspiracy to commit arson, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office. Falconiero is a volunteer firefighter with the Whitman Square Fire Co. Bail was set at 10 percent of $30,000 but Falconiero was released on his own recognizance.
