(Brooklyn-WABC, November 6, 2003) -- In Brooklyn a high school is closed after several fires this morning. School leaders believe that someone was intentionally trying to burn down Brooklyn Tech. Marcus Solis is outside the school in Fort Greene.

It seems to be a recurring problem here. There was a fire set over the summer, and there have been six fires set since last Friday, including the three today.

Investigators believe there is one person responsible, and they are trying to determine if it's a student or a staff member.

Mario Montero, Custodian: "This is really bad. In the seventh floor it's really bad. In the second floor they found it in like a closet."

The fires were set in a seventh floor supply room, a second floor closet, and in a boy's bathroom. In all three incidents papers were lit and no accelerants were used. The fires did not spread very far and were put out quickly, and no one was hurt. And today the students were dismissed at lunchtime.

After school was dismissed, police, fire and school safety officials met with school officials. There are 3,800 people in the building at any given time during the school day. And anyone setting fires in there is certainly endangering their lives.

This is an investigation being taken very seriously.
