New York Teen Gets Probation for Torching Bird

For using hair spray and a cigarette lighter to torch and kill his pet parakeet, a Shoreham teen was sentenced yesterday to 280 hours of community service and five years probation, despite a deluge of letters from animal rights activists seeking jail time.
