Md. Marshal Probes Five-Alarm Fire in Williamsport

Feb. 04--Fire officials are investigating a five-alarm fire at a three-story building at 110 N. Conococheague Street in Williamsport, according to a news release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal.
A resident in the first floor apartment smelled smoke at about 7:18 a.m. A cause has not been determined at this time, and no injuries were reported, according to the news release.
About 100 firefighters from Washington, Allegany, Frederick and Montgomery Counties, as well as units from Morgan, W. Va. and Berkley, W. Va., were on the scene.
Damages to the building are estimated at $500,000, according to the news release.
The building, which was originally built in 1900, contained L&J liquor store and an apartment on the first floor and four unoccupied apartments on the second and third floors.
