Feb. 10-- One person is dead and several people are injured after a home on Detroit's east side was firebombed this morning.
Nine people were inside of the home on Kenmoor, near the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, at about 6 a.m. today when two men in a dark-colored sedan drove up and threw a Molotov cocktail through the front window, Detroit Police Commander Steve Dolunt said.
He said the home is a private residence housing a large family, including several with special needs, and is not a group home, as has been reported.
Two people were treated at the scene, three were transported to the hospital in serious condition, another three in critical condition and one person died, Dolunt said. He said the age range of those in the house was 29 to 60 years old.
Dolunt said the scene this morning was chaotic, as firefighters and police forced their way into the burning home. Firefighters, he said, carried victims out of the house.
The firebombing is being investigated by homicide and arson investigators.
