Feb. 10--OCEAN SPRINGS -- A fire Saturday morning that destroyed a Dorothy Street home where marijuana growing equipment had recently been confiscated remains under investigation by fire and law officials.
It took 20 firefighters from the Central Jackson County and Gulf Park Estates fire departments three hours to put out the blaze, which destroyed the vacant home in the 1000 block of Dorothy Street in Ocean Springs, Central Fire Chief Michael Belton said.
The fire, reported at 1:15 a.m., was fully involved when firefighters arrived, Belton said.
The house was one of four raided two weeks ago by the Harrison County Sheriff's Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration, Belton said.
During that raid, agents had seized thousands of dollars' worth of hydroponic marijuana growing equipment from the Ocean Springs home.
Narcotics agents also raided homes in Pass Christian, Long Beach and Biloxi.
The Jackson County's Sheriff's Office and Jackson County Fire Service are investigating the fire.
