Virginia Firefighters Battle Another Arson Fire

More than 60 fires have hit the Eastern Shore since mid-November and yet another happened Tuesday night when an abandoned hotel burned in Tasley.

Firefighters monitor a fire at the Whispering Pines Motel in Tasley, Va. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. Investigators believe the fire to be the work of an arsonist in Accomack County who has set more that 65 fires since November. This motel is the largest fire set so far. Parts of the motel date to the 1930s. A $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

March 13--TASLEY -- Fire destroyed an abandoned motel late Tuesday on the Eastern Shore.

About 9:30 p.m., firefighters were called to the 23300 block of Tasley Road where the old Whispering Pines Motel was burning, according to Virginia State Police.

A preliminary investigation determined that fire appears to be arson.

More than 60 fires have been reported on the Eastern Shore since mid-November.

A $25,000 reward is offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the arsons. Information can be reported by calling or texting 757-655-1437.
