April 14--A man was injured Saturday after attempting to rescue people from a double-wide mobile home fire at West Valley Mobile Home Park, Clark County Fire officials said.

County and Las Vegas Fire and Rescue firefighters responded to a fire about 4:15 p.m. at 6300 W Tropicana Avenue, near Jones Boulevard. Firefighters saw smoke rising out of the rear of the home, officials said.

The man, a neighbor, was severely injured while helping people evacuate before firefighters arrived, officials said. Another person received minor injuries. Both were transported to a local hospital, officials said.

Firefighters doused the flames within five minutes, but not before high winds spread it to the attic and it caused $10,000 in damage.

Clark County is investigating the cause of the fire.
