April 17--A pickup truck struck an unoccupied apartment building in Dublin Tuesday morning, catching both the vehicle and the structure on fire.

According to a release from Pulaski County Sheriff's Office Captain J.B. Saunders, crews responded to the 6400 block of McGlothlin Lane in Dublin at about 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Saunders said the first responders found the truck and the apartment building were on fire.

The driver of the 1993 Dodge pickup truck, Richard W. Kent of Dublin, said the truck caught fire while he was driving down Highland Road. According to Saunders, Kent told police he lost control of the truck while trying to pull off the road.

Kent jumped out of the truck before it struck the building. Saunders said Kent refused medical treatment, and no one else was injured in the incident.

Kent is charged with reckless driving.

Firefighters from several local stations assisted in extinguishing the fire. The release said the sheriff's office is investigating the incident.
