N.C. Apartment Complex Fire Displaces 30 Residents

Fire destroyed six units in a Charlotte apartment complex, causing more than $200,000 in damage and displacing 30 people.

Nov. 13--Investigators say the blaze that left 30 apartment residents seeking shelter Tuesday was accidental.

No injuries were reported in the two-alarm blaze that broke out shortly after 2:30 p.m. at the Ashley Place Apartments, in the 5700 block of Electra Lane. That is off Idlewild Road.

Firefighters were able to save six units in the building, but authorities report another six units were damaged.

The American Red Cross said it provided support for 30 residents who were displaced. Damage was estimated at more than $200,000.
