May 08--SUNNYVALE -- Two people died Thursday in an early-morning fire that destroyed a mobile home.

A man and woman who live at the residence were unaccounted for, but firefighters have not yet identified the victims, according to Capt. Jeff Hunter of the Sunnyvale Dept. of Public Safety.

An adult male escaped safely and told firefighters he lived at the mobile home with his parents.

"We suspect it could potentially be the parents," who died in the fire, Hunter said.

The blaze was reported at 1:56 a.m., and when crews arrived the flames were so strong that firefighters had to take a defensive stand outside the mobile home, Hunter said.

Once fire crews knocked down the blaze and got inside they found two deceased people near a bedroom doorway and hallway.

Investigators with the Santa Clara County arson task force responded to the scene and are expected to spend much of the day searching for a cause. Fire investigators are speaking with the man who escaped the blaze.

A sign near entrance of mobile home park reads "Cape Cod Village. A community for older persons."

One neighbor said the parents who live at the home are active in the mobile home park community. The neighbor said the woman who lives at the mobile home destroyed by the fire has a hard time getting around and relies on two walking canes.
