Storms Help Douse Massive Florida Wildfire

A fire in the Everglades is 100 percent contained thanks to some recent rain.

June 13--One good thing about all the recent rain: It helped bring the massive wildfire in the Everglades under control, the Florida Forest Service said.

As of Friday, the fire was 100 percent contained, although it was still smoldering. It's the same blaze that blanketed South Florida in smoke on Monday.

After erupting last Saturday, it consumed 28,500 acres between Interstate 75 and the Palm Beach-Broward county line. Showers and storms produced 2 to 4 inches of rain in the past week.
