The mother says she isn't interested in charges against her older son and a friend.

The son of an Alabama firefighter was set afire by his older brother and a friend, but no charges are expected.

The eight-year-old boy has third-degree burns from his chin to his waist.

James Adams was doused with hand sanitizer and lit on fire as part of the fire challenge, according to ABC33/40.

His body is covered with blisters and peeled skin, his mother, Heather Adams, told reporters.

"They said they were going to rub hand sanitizer on my shirt and rub my face," the boy said.

He is being treated in a burn unit at Children's Hospital.

"I was just amazed because I have had a small burn and know just a small burn is one of the most painful things ever. I can't imagine what he is going through," his mother said.

Adams said she isn't interesting in pressing charges against her older son and his friend adding that they're dealing with guilt.

She also told reporters she wants to use the incident as a 'teachable' experience so others don't get hurt.
