ENFIELD — Four people are missing from a duplex that burned in a fire Wednesday morning, a fire official said.

The fire at 68 South River Street was mostly out by 7:30 a.m., when firefighters were searching for victims, spokesman Mark Zarcaro said.

He said the fire was reported at 6:15 a.m. Three people came out of one side of the two-family house, and two from the second side, Zarcaro said. The two from the second side of the burning home said there were four more people inside.

He doesn't believe the fire is connected to a series of suspected arson fires in vacant buildings. The duplex is in a residential neighborhood near the Connecticut River that is more than five miles from the scene of the suspicious fires.
