Fire Damages Historic N.C. Building

The Dunbar Center in Spencer was destroyed in the five-alarm fire.

 Flames destroyed a historical building in Spencer, N.C. Rowan County Tuesday night.

The fire at the Dunbar Center went to five alarms, officials told WCNC.

Crews have been working non-stop since the fire began around 7 p.m., and remain at the scene Wednesday.

Tankers shuttled in water to combat the fire in the vacant building. The cause is under investigation.
