Four Hurt in Chandelier Collapse in NYC

Two of the people were seriously injured when the heavy item fell.

Four people were injured when a chandelier fell during construction at 331 Madison Ave. around 10 this morning, the FDNY said.

The four people injured were working around an open stairway and fell about 15 feet, the FDNY said, and then the chandelier, which weighed up to several hundred pounds, fell on them. The NYPD is investigating what caused the fall.

Two people of those injured are in serious condition, the FDNY said.

Madison Ave. between East 42nd and 43rd street were closed for about an hour, and had reopened as of 11:30 a.m. Heavy traffic delays were reported around 11 a.m.
