Fire hit a rescue tool manufacturing plant in Ohio Tuesday night.
Kettering Fire Chief Tom Butts told reporters there was “nothing suspicious whatsoever” about the fire that caused major damage to Genesis Rescue Systems.
The fire was discovered about 6:19 p.m., a little more than hour after employees left for the day. Thick, black smoke was visible for miles, the chief said.
Some of the firefighting and rescue equipment made at the facility was saved as it was stored in a bunker in the building. Among the tools they manufacture include NXTgen Blade and Mach 3 Simo Outlaw pump, fire officials said.Fire investigators remained at the scene Wednesday afternoon searching debris for a cause. A spare truck tire inside the single-story building exploded during the fire.
There were no injuries.
On its Facebook page, officials wrote: "This evening we suffered a fire in our shipping department in Kettering, Ohio. The fire started after normal business hours, therefore no employees were in the building, and no one was injured. On behalf of all the Genesis employees we thank you all for the well wishes."
