Auburn police are investigating 11 suspicious house fires between October and November, joining forces with federal and fire authorities.
Most of the fires were set during the evenings and in the north side of town, though two burned in the south, according to a news release from police Cmdr. Steve Stocker. No injuries have been reported, but some of the blazes have caused significant structural damage, he wrote.
Police arrested a suspect in connection with two separate fires in September that appear to be part of a string of arsons involving Dumpsters, flags and other items, Stocker wrote. It’s unclear whether the two strings of fires are related.
The release said the house fires were set in clusters, the most recent of which was between Thursday and Sunday.
The police department is working with investigators from the Valley Regional Fire Authority and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms to investigate.
Police are asking residents to use security precautions and report all suspicious activity to authorities.
