A girl died and two people were injured after a highway bridge collapsed in a Central Texas town Thursday morning.
Witnesses told KHOU-TV that a large truck hit the U.S. Highway 90 bridge over State Highway 36 in Sealy just before 10 a.m., causing the collapse. Sealy is about 50 miles west of Houston.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said that a 12-year-old girl was killed. The girl's mother and another child were injured in the collapse; the mother is in critical condition.
Images from the collapse showed a white Chevrolet Camaro buried in the rubble.
Austin County Judge Tim Lapham told KTRK-TV that the bridge has been struck on a regular basis and was scheduled to be replaced next year.
